Welcome to Euphonos Ensemble!
We are a non-profit organization in Oregon who are dedicated to spreading the love of classical music to the community. Our mission is to use music as a tool to support and bring joy to young and old alike. Join us in creating a harmonious society!

Our story

Euphonos Ensemble began with Emily Seo’s vision and the encouragement of her music teacher prof. Hamilton Cheifetz. She first discussed the idea of forming an ensemble with Alex Tran, whom she met at the 2023 Monday Musical Club Winner’s Recital, and soon after Kaylee Nah, Andrew Lee, and later Luke D'Silva joined. Together, the ensemble has grown into a dedicated group sharing music and serving the community.

Euphonos had an amazing time performing at Mirabella Portland with the addition of our new musicians Kristen Kim, Yoojin Kang and Jayden Seo! We can't wait to be back in the future😊

Euphonos performed various movie soundtracks and other pieces for the elderly at Avemere! We were excited to have our new members Sara, Sawa, and Yuri perform and they wowed the audience😊

We are very greatful to have preformed at Beaverton City's 'The Annual Boards & Commissions Celebration'. Thank you so much for inviting us and we had such a wonderful experience. It was very rewarding to entertain people in our local community with classical music!🎻🎹

We glad Euphonos got warm up the cold weather by performing by the fireplace for the elderly at SpringRidge at Charbonneau! We got to perform newly prepared pieces and also our solo pieces🎶 We hope to come back soon!

Today we performed at the St Vincent’s Hospital! We are grateful that we got to share the holiday spirit and the love music to the hospital. We even got to perform at 2 different places in the hospital, which was amazing. We hope the music made everyone’s day a bit brighter, as it made our day too. We hope we can come back!😊🏥

Euphonos Ensemble visited the Beaverton Clothes For Kids to donate the clothes they have raised from the Benefit Concert. They donated around 4k dollars of much needed jeans, jackets, and inner wears.
We can’t wait until the kids will be able to wear these new clothes!💕

On 11/12 we performed for the elderly at King City Senior Village and Summerfield Retirement Community!
The elderly were touched by our playing and we got many compliments and encouragement.
It was a heartwarming experience and we hope to come back soon! ❤️🎻🎹

Euphonos Ensemble is excited to present their inaugural concert as a fundraiser for 'Clothes for Kids.' Euphonos Ensemble is a non-profit organization founded by high-school students (Emily Seo, Andrew Lee, Luke D'Silva, Kaylee Nah and Alex Tran), who are dedicated to spreading the love of classical music to the community.
Clothes for Kids, run by the Beaverton School District, provides free clothes and shoes for BSD students in need. This organization holds a special place in our hearts because most of us either attended or are currently enrolled in BSD schools.
As winter approaches, we've set our sights on ensuring that no child in our community faces the biting cold alone. Clothes for Kids desperately needs winter jackets to keep these children warm and snug, both in and out of the classrooms.
We invite you to be part of this heartwarming mission, to be the warmth that these kids so desperately need. Help contribute to making a positive impact on the lives of students in our community, all while enjoying an evening of classical music.
Admission to the concert is complimentary, and we gratefully accept donations. All funds raised during this event will directly benefit 'Clothes for Kids.'

Emily Seo, cello
Emily, 14, is a freshman at Jesuit High School. She started studying cello at the age of 5 and currently studies with Professor Hamilton Cheifetz. Emily joined the PYP organization in 2017 and is in her fourth season in the PYP Orchestra.

Emily received an Artistic Merit Award and participated in the 2023 Indiana University Jacobs School of Music Summer String Academy, where she had lessons with Richard Aaron and Amir Eldan. She was a recipient of the 2023 Monday Musical Club Scholarship and a finalist for both 2023 Oregon Mozart Players Young Soloists Competition and 2023 Young Artist Debut! by MetroArts. Emily played in the 2022 Oregon ASTA Honors Recital and won first prize in Oregon’s 2022 OPUS Music Competition and an honorable mention in the 2022 Oregon MTNA Junior Strings Competition. She had masterclasses with Norman Fischer, Peter Prosser, Dennis Parker, and the Pacifica Quartet. In 2022, Emily was one of three students in the Portland area chosen to participate in a masterclass with Johannes Moser.

Besides playing cello, she enjoys cross country running and reading novels.

Emily Seo, cello

Luke, 16, is a junior at Westview High School. His musical journey began at 6 years old with the violin. Three years later, he decided to play the viola with Andrea Hawkins as his teacher. Luke is currently the Principal Violist of the Portland Youth Philharmonic Orchestra and was a Co-Principal Violist last season. In 2022, he joined Oregon’s All-State Honor Orchestra, and in 2023, he served as Principal Violist of both All-State and All-Northwest Honor Orchestras. He also represented Oregon in NYO2 2022 and NYO2 2023.

Moreover, Luke is the 2023 Oregon state champion for the Viola Solo category. He is the winner of the 29th Young Artists Debut! presented by Cognizart by MetroArts Inc. and 2023 Eugene Symphony Guild Young Artist Competition. He joined OrpheusPDX in its inaugural Pathways Program in 2023. Luke is grateful to have been mentored by Peter Slowik, Li-Kuo Chang, and Hillary Oseas.

Kaylee has also been studying the piano for 9 years and has won a number of prizes at OMTA classical and romantic festivals. Besides music, Kaylee enjoys painting, baking, and hanging out with friends.

Andew Lee, violin
Andrew, 16, is a sophomore at Sunset High School in Portland, Oregon. He has been playing the violin for ten years and currently studies with Carol Sindell. Andrew joined the Portland Youth Philharmonic (PYP) Orchestra in 2021 and is currently a member of the first violin section after previously serving as assistant principal second violin; before that, he was the concertmaster of Portland Youth Conservatory Orchestra. As a soloist, he was the third place winner of the 2023 Oregon State Solo Contest and the 2023 ASTA Competition. He was also an alternate winner of the 2022 MTNA Junior String Competition. He is a recipient of the OMTA Instrumental and Collaborative Scholarship Awards.

Andrew is a 2023 graduate of the National Symphony Orchestra Summer Music Institute at the Kennedy Center, where he studied with Jennifer Kim. He served as the associate concertmaster of the 2023 Oregon All-State Orchestra and was a member of the 2023 All-Northwest Orchestra.

Andew Lee, violin
Andrew, 16, is a sophomore at Sunset High School in Portland, Oregon. He has been playing the violin for ten years and currently studies with Carol Sindell. Alex Tran, piano
Alex, 14, is a 10th grader at Catlin Gabel School and currently studies piano with Dr. Renato Fabbro.

Alex was the winner of the 2022-2023 Oregon Music Teachers National Association (MTNA) Junior Piano Performance, 2022-2023 Northwest Division MTNA Junior Piano Performance Alternate Winner, and 2021-2022 Oregon MTNA Junior Piano Division Alternate Winner. He also won first prizes in the 2020 OFMC Suzanne Raines Young Pianists Scholarship Competition, the 2019 OMTA Oregon Sonata Festival, and in different divisions of Spokane Piano Competitions. He was a Portland Monday Musical Club scholarship recipient. Alex has played piano and violin at Portland Metropolitan Youth Symphony and Forest Grove Library Foundation. He also plays the clarinet in the middle school band.

His other interests include math, computer programming, ballroom dancing, and composing music. Alex was awarded the prestigious merit-based nationwide Caroline D. Bradley scholarship in 2021.
